How the NUCCA Chiropractic Technique is Performed?

NUCCA stands for the “National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association.” If it is found that your body and posture are out of proper alignment, the NUCCA Chiropractic procedure can begin to help you start back down the road of recovery. Based on the precise x-rays taken of your body, the Chiropractor is able to assess how to return the body back to the proper position. The good news is this procedure is pain-free!

In fact, when the NUCCA technique is being performed, most patients are unaware that anything is even happening. The NUCCA Chiropractic adjustment is performed by the doctor using the palm of their hand rested against the upper cervical/neck area of the patient. During the NUCCA chiropractic adjustment the patient is lying down on their side. The pressure applied to the patient is no more than the amount of pressure felt when the pulse is being taken in the wrist! fun!

How Quickly Does the NUCCA Treatment Work?

When the NUCCA Chiropractic procedure is performed correctly, there should be an immediate change in the body balance of the individual. This is a sign to the doctor that things are moving in the right direction. As a result, the patient’s body is given the best chance to start truly healing. But, it does not stop there.

NUCCA is unique in that there is no guess work. After the first adjustment, and ONLY for the next 1-2 visits, a follow-up x-ray is used to ensure that the NUCCA adjustments were successful. The doctor will run a detailed analysis to make sure that the subluxation is removed. There is never any guesswork with NUCCA! The Chiropractor will always know your progress every step of the way as you move towards better health with this unique cervical chiropractic technique.

What is Body Balance?

When your spine and nervous system are in proper alignment, your body is in a balanced state. In this position, your brain and body communicate freely back and forth making sure that your body maintains homeostasis or what is considered “normal”. We live in a hectic world in which we are all subjected to accidents, injuries, and stress everyday of our lives. When these things damage our body the spine does not stay lined up in its proper position. If the misalignment is severe enough that it starts affecting the way the nerves function and communicate, the condition is given the name “subluxation.” Fortunately, there is a pain-free chiropractic treatment for subluxation.

How Do I Know if I Have a Subluxation?

There are many physical changes that occur when someone develops a subluxation. The posture becomes distorted. One hip will be pulled up higher than the other and the shoulders may become unlevel. The feet can become uneven so that when lying down one leg appears to be shorter than the other. The muscles on either side of the spine may go into a lasting spasm. The blood flow to the upper head and neck region can become altered. Finally, on an X-ray, there may be visible evidence that the vertebrae of the spine are no longer in their correct position.

What does a Subluxation Feel Like?

Cervical subluxation may or may not be painful, but it’s a good thing it often is. The discomfort we feel from subluxation is not the problem; it is simply our body’s way of telling us that there is a problem that needs to be addressed.

Often times the discomfort from a subluxation may show up as:

Allergies Arm Pain Arthritis Asthma Back Pain Bed Wetting
Carpal Tunnel Chronic Fatigue Depression Digestive Problems Disc Problems Dizziness
Ear Infections Fibromyalgia Frequent Colds Head Pain Headaches High Blood Pressure
Indigestion Joint Pain Leg Pain Low Back Pain Migraines Multiple Sclerosis
Neck Pain Numbness Sciatica Scoliosis Shoulder Pain Sinus Problems
Sleeping Difficulty TMJ

However, the dangerous fact is that subluxation can go on for years without pain. During this time the body is not operating at its optimum despite the fact that the person does not feel any pain. Have you ever been to the dentist, walked in feeling fine, only to be told that you have a cavity? How could that be? Did you have any pain? The answer is simply this, disease is a process and it takes time, with pain often being the last thing to show up.

Take for example: Heart Disease. Heart disease is the #1 cause of death in the United States. The accumulation of plaques and debris in the blood vessels of your body usually takes decades. However, “50 percent of men and 64 percent of women who died suddenly of CHD (chronic heart disease) had no previous symptoms of this disease.” (American Heart Association. 2008 Update at a Glance) The process, heart disease, was going on the whole time but the people never felt pain until it was too late.

Would it not have been better to live a healthier lifestyle in the years prior to the attack and perhaps prevented its occurrence. Does it make sense to do better brushing and more regular cleaning instead of waiting for the dentist to have to drill? Not too mention more cost effective?
So if during an examination it is discovered that my body is out of balance, what can be done?

How much will it cost?

The cost of your first visit is on us. Check out our new patient special here. For future appointments, it is hard to estimate a cost since so many factors come into play. Depending on your insurance and on-going needs, Dr. Kaszer will discuss the cost of future visits with you as well.

How much time will it take?

We generally advise our patients to allow about an hour for their initial appointment. This allows time to complete paperwork, exams, any x-rays that the patient needs, as well as the checkout process. If you want to save time print off the new patient paperwork here.

What is going to happen during my initial appointment? (Do I have to get x-rays)

During the initial appointment, Dr. Kaszer will sit down with you to discuss the reason for your visit and any other concerns that you feel chiropractic care can help. They will examine your spine and may take x-rays to determine the extent of any cervical subluxations or spinal injury.

What happens after my first appointment?

After the initial appointment, we will schedule what we call a “Report of Findings” appointment where you will sit down with Dr. Jamie Kazser and look over your x-rays. He will show you where your pain or symptoms are coming from and let you know what type of treatment schedule he recommends to get you feeling better and functioning at 100%.

Can I get adjusted on my first appointment?

This is determined by your doctor on an individual patient basis and they will know more after the initial consultation and examination.

How do I get to your office?
